What is a PEACH Filter?
The PEACH filtration media uses an open 3-D depth matrix structure to allow liquids to collect, and then saturate the media, and then use gravity to drain the droplets away. The PEACH is a custom synthetic media specifically designed for this purpose, using multiple layers and a special thermally bonded gradient density fiber structure to keep the media strong, but still open in order to process the oil mists, coolant and smoke created by metalworking processes.
How Does the PEACH Filter Work within the Mist Collector?
The proprietary fiber structure of the PEACH coalescing media separates liquid droplets from the airstream by providing three separate airflow paths:
- Radial – The air passes straight through the fiber structure of the media, removing the contaminant as it does so.
- Axial – The saturated depth coalescing media also forces a lot of the airflow to follow a “stair-step” path, which improves the amount of particle removal and thus the efficiency of the PEACH filter overall.
- Helical – The use of a helical structure surrounding the PEACH media also generates a “corkscrew” pattern that keeps the airflow moving within the filtration compartment longer allowing more particulates to be captured by it.
The PEACH Saturated Depth Coalescing™ media also uses an inner filter tube to increase the filter capacity and lower the pressure drop to help extend the life of the filter overall.
As the suspended liquid particles are collected within the filter media, they form droplets which grow in size and eventually drain as gravity pulls them out of the airstream and out of the filter. These droplets often pull particles of solid contaminants with them as well when they drain out of the mist collector. This reduces the amount of clogging of the filtration media (due to saturation of the filter by the collection of liquids and blockages caused by solid particles collected) which reduce the life of the filter media and reduce its efficiency.
Using the PEACH media removes over 99% of the overall contaminant in the airstream. Making it one of the most efficient methods of air pollution control when dealing with the mist and smoke created by metalworking jobs.
